The ACSC is the public face of Australia's cyber defence effort. It publishes free guidance for businesses of all sizes — including the Essential Eight — and provides a 24/7 hotline (1300 CYBER1) for reporting cyber incidents.

The ACSC was established in 2018 to centralise Australia's cyber security capability under the . It brings together intelligence, law enforcement, and industry partners to share threat information and respond to significant cyber incidents.

Key outputs from the ACSC include the , the Information Security Manual (ISM), the Cyber Threat Report (published annually), and the ReportCyber portal for individuals and businesses to report incidents.

The ACSC also runs the program, which certifies assessors to evaluate whether government systems meet the requirements of the ISM — a process many defence and government suppliers must complete.
